Pianist Katherine Tinker plays with a wide range of artists and ensembles encompassing classical and contemporary music, opera and performance art. She made her solo debut at the BBC Proms in 2019.

 

She has given the world premiere of works by numerous composers including Shiva Feshareki, Sara Glojnarić, Jessie Marino and Claudia Molitor.  Most recently she has performed at the London Contemporary Music Festival, hcmf//, Hong Kong New Visions Arts Festival and the BBC Proms. Future collaborations include projects alongside Philip Glass, and performing at KLANG Copenhagen with her experimental music group, p.e.r.s.o.n.a.l.c.l.u.t.t.e.r.

 

Katherine frequently performs and records as orchestral pianist, including with the London Symphony Orchestra's LSO Live Label, the London Philharmonic Orchestra's Live label, and the London Contemporary Orchestra.  Releases include a disc alongside Manchester Collective, and an album with her duo partner violinist Daniel Pioro, which includes world premiere recordings of works by composers such as Laurence Crane, Nick Martin and Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir.  Her premiere recording alongside Phaedra Ensemble of Meredith Monk's "Backlight" will be released in September 2026.

 

Katherine trained at Oxford University and the Royal College of Music with pianists Ronald Smith, Yonty Solomon, Ian Jones and Niel Immelman.
